BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading company that deals with medical technology, has finally launched their newest product. Called 'BD Ultra-Fine Nano', which is the world's smallest pen needle. It is being touted as the answer to prayers of those who suffer from needle anxiety. It is said to be capable of providing a less painful injection experience for all those who are on insulin injections. The number of Americans who are on insulin comes up to a startlingly large number, and this new pen needle might bring some respite for these patients. Links between Diabetes and Sugary Beverages
An increasing number of people from the United States are consuming sugared beverages (soda, sports drink and fruit drink) that have lead to a proportional rise in cardiovascular ailments and diabetes cases in the last ten years. Investigators cited this information during the fiftieth yearly congregation of the American Heart Association. Investigators estimated that the surge in intake of sugared drinks from 1990-2000 has been contributory to over one lakh new-fangled diabetes cases, fourteen thousand novel CHD (coronary heart disease) cases and fifty thousand supplementary life-years encumbered by CHD over the last ten years. Sugared sports, fruit-based drinks (not all fruit juice) and soda (aerated) beverages have corresponding calories which range from 120-200calories in each beverage and hence playing a part in the population’s mounting obesity wave.
